كارو لطفي
Caro, currently based between Beirut and London, is an Executive and Strategy consultant for non-profits. She was previously an Associate Director at Human Rights Watch in London, focused on Development and Outreach. Prior to that she was the Executive Director of Apathy is Boring, working in a non-partisan manner and on a national scale to engage millions of Canadian youth in democracy. Over seven years, she grew the organization into a multi-million dollar non-profit with over 25 full time staff and 25+ contractors.
She is a graduate of a Masters in Public Policy from Oxford University, which she received with Merit. She was named one of the Top 25 Women of Influence in Canada in 2020, and is recognized as a leading voice on topics of youth civic and democratic engagement, conducting over 500 media interviews and speaking engagements.
She was the chair of the granting committee for the Inspirit Foundation for 9 years, working on narrative change centering Arab and Indigenous communities. She was previously an advisor to Sid Lee's C2 Conference, as part of the Sustainability Impact Unit, and a former board member for the Darling Foundry, supporting the creation of contemporary art. She was named in the top 30 under 30 by the Bay Street Bull in 2020, was named one of 19 prominent Canadians by CBC, was featured in the We Are Canada series which aired in 2017, was named a Canadian Arab to Watch in 2015 by the Canadian Arab Institute, and was awarded the Walker Humanitarian Award by Concordia University.
